Product Description
Photo shows view of this historic promenade, Alameda de Paula, in Havana, Cuba. Photo dates to 1904. Located at the Avenida del Puerto, Old Havana, it was the first city promenade. Finished in 1776 and built by Antonio Fernández Trevejo, following orders of the General Captain Don Felipe Pons de la Viela, Marqués de La Torre, who is considered by many the first Havana urban planner. It was named Paula for its proximity to the old San Francisco de Paula Hospital.
