Dating from the early 1900s to the late 60's and early 70s, these prints preserve the history and architecture of this great American city.

A little About the Windy City of Chicago

Since its foundation in 1833 as a frontier town of the Old Northwest, Chicago has grown into one of the ten most influential world cities. Chicago today is the financial, economic, and cultural capital of the Midwest, and is recognized as a major transportation, business, and architectural center. The city's skyscrapers, local cuisine, political traditions, and sports teams are some of its most recognized symbols.

    Photo of the Victoria Hotel exterior in Chicago, IL. This building, located on the corner of Michigan and Van Buren, was originally called the "Beaurivage", and was built in 1878. It was one of the first "French Flat" buildings in the city, essentially luxury apartments. It burned in 1882 and was rebuilt. In 1892 it was remodeled into the Victoria Hotel. It was demolished in 1908. This old photo dates to around 1900.
